Where has the summer gone? Sadly, I only have two weeks left at home with the girls. I have been enjoying every minute of my time with them. That is my current excuse for not updating the blog sooner ; )
Since the last post, the girls have been on several trips all over the east coast. Their first trip to the beach was June 20th for their Uncle Ben's wedding. They wore the dresses that Grandma and Grandpa Harris got them in Hawaii last year, as Mommy and Daddy carried them in the beach wedding. It was beautiful! They also experienced their first dip in the ocean. It was about as warm as their bath water, so they both seemed to enjoy it.
Next, we took a family vacation to Florida the first week in July. We spent the night in Atlanta on the way down where some of Mommy's friends got to meet the girls. Once again, the girls visited the beach, but this time they did NOT enjoy the water. I think the gulf water was too cold for them. They did, however, enjoy watching the fish in our friends' aquarium.
Finally, a few weeks ago Grandma and Grandpa took Mommy and the girls to Ocean City, MD and to Pennsylvania to visit relatives. While in Ocean City the girls enjoyed many stroller rides on the boardwalk and even a "surry" bike ride. They also enjoyed their time in the kiddy pool, but once again the ocean was too cold for them. In Pennsylvania, the girls got to meet their third great grandma (the other two live in NC) and several of Grandma and Grandpa's friends. They also attended their first Harris reunion. They were a hit everywhere they went!
We are still keeping busy for the rest of the summer. I have been taking the girls to "Loveable Lapsit Storytime" for 0 to 2 year olds at the library, and they love it! They listen to stories and songs and watch the other kids sing and dance. They are now able to sit up (propped on their hands) for a minute or so before toppling over. They are also rolling and scooting like crazy. We set up a second crib a few weeks ago so they won't be crushing and waking each other.
They are both eating baby food wonderfully! They eat many different types of cereals and homemade baby food. That's right, HOMEMADE - Mommy has been productive! So far, I have made them peaches, sweet potatoes, and bananas. They love them all. I even like them. They taste much better than the packaged stuff that really lacks flavor.
With all the food they are eating, Lilly now weighs over 14 pounds and Elzi is close to 13 pounds. Mommy and Daddy are getting stronger by the day! The girls are getting some more fuzz (not quite able to be classified as hair yet). We are still waiting for some teeth. It seems like the teething process is well under way. Both girls are chewing on anything they can get their hands on and drooling everywhere. At the recommendation of Nanny and Papa Buchanan, we have given the girls dill pickles to chew on. They absolutely love it! Who knew!?
